Out of interest, have you tried asking HP? It seems the mouse is sold as "configurable" so it might be an idea to see if they provide any way of configuring it (their own software for example)?

Does the mouse have its own driver? It probably that the mouse button is not, as far as windows is concerned, a mouse button at all. It will indeed remain a mystery. I still cant understand why you would have a problem where I don't, but then this is software and so many things can be different, its almost impossible to cover all bases
