Just wondering if there was any progress on this. It's not a big deal for me because v1.5 has most of the functionality that I need, but I was curious... might be fun to explore some of the newer features.

Progress on what?

Oh sorry you hijacked the thread :) I completely forgot!
Well to be honest, I haven't forgotten because the item is in my bug tracking tool, but I haven't had a chance to even look XMBC since I returned from Hong Kong!

It would be nice to know at what point it broke - it might help me narrow down the search parameters, can you try v2 - v2.4 and see which one introduces the problem (I suspect v2.0 would do it because that's where the majority of the changes were)

v2.0: http://www.highrez.co.uk/scripts/downlo ... on=2000000
v2.1: http://www.highrez.co.uk/scripts/downlo ... on=2010000
v2.2: http://www.highrez.co.uk/scripts/downlo ... on=2020000
v2.3: http://www.highrez.co.uk/scripts/downlo ... on=2030000
v2.4: http://www.highrez.co.uk/scripts/downlo ... on=2040000

At least then I can look at the difference between the exact two versions. Oh and by 1.5 do you mean 1.50 (1.5 was like 2004) :)

Thanks,
Phil

:D
Sorry for the thread hijack, I'll revert to PM now--the thread was just sitting in an open tab on my browser--availability bias.
Will try some of the more recent builds as I get some time. And yes, that's v1.50.

Back to the normally scheduled Win8 discussion. Move along folks, nothing to see here....

Its not a problem, its just one excuse as to why I had "forgotten" :)

Registered just to post this, really.

I've been using this tool for a few days on Windows 8, and it's been great so far. It's survived liberal use of the "sleep" option and has seen lots of use, without any issues. Using it with an Evoluent VerticalMouse 4 (wireless right-handed model), 5/6 of the keys get detected (with me assuming the 6th is nonstandard, as it doesn't seem to do anything anyways).

XMouse has been a quick and easy replacement for the drivers that were included with this mouse, which caused some issues on my system. This goes on my list of must-have programs together with stuff like ClipX and Lazarus (FF plugin) - just plain awesome. Might see a donation headed your way, soon. ;)

EDIT: Done as said, all's still working great.

More and more computers are forcing people to switch to Win8, whether they like it or not. I just upgraded my laptop to a nice modern HP... but now I find that downgrading it to Win7 would be very difficult because of lack of drivers. :( So instead, I'll need to see how to get past its annoyances; I'll be reporting in a few days how the latest XMBC beta works for me on it.

In a few days it wont be BETA :)
I've been using Win 8 since before it came out - actually I'm win 8.1 now (the benefits(?) of MSDN). Once you get over the new GUI its much better underneath (and Start8 fixed my GUI issues :)).

XMBC 2.5 works reasonably with Win 8 but there are some security enhancements that break one or two things. They should be fine in the v2.6 betas.

Looking forward to your feedback, but I think that I wont hold the release up (its been far too long already)!.

Thanks,
Phil
