Installation problems xmbc 2.17

Post by mateu » Tue Jan 23, 2018 3:36 pm

Hi everyone,

since I received a new notebook from my company I experience installation problems with xmbc 2.17:

the error message reads: Sorry, X-Mouse Button Control requires at least Windows XP SP1.

I run Windows 10 Version 1709 (Build 16299.125) so minimum requirements should be fullfilled...

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this issue - without xmbc life is annoying...

Cheers mateu

Thats very odd... I don't know why the installer thinks your Windows is not sufficient - the version check is pretty basic and no one else (inc me) has had any problems installing on Windows 10 (as far as I know). I suppose you could check that the installer isn't running in "compatibility" mode for XP or something silly. Other than that, I don't know why this would happen.... Does the portable version work?

You could try an older version but the installer hasn't changed in this regard for many versions, so I cant see how that would help!

Thanks,
Phil

thank you for your support, phil!

i helped myself by copying the installation directory from a working computer and set an autostart entry in the registry! everything works fine now without installation...
