ok which 5 buttons will function?

hi, i want to buy a 7-button mouse which unfortunately doesn't have 64-bit drivers for my OS (xp x64) so i came accross this page
i read that XMBC supports 5 buttons and it so happens i only need 5 buttons (out of 7)
but i want 5 specific buttons not any 5 buttons

so my question is will it work with any 5 buttons i choose or with 5 specific buttons as detected from the OS?

and if it's the latter case (as i suppose) i wonder if u could help me out determine if the buttons i need will work or not, before i buy the mouse
i mean can u tell which 5 buttons would be detected on a mouse like the following?
(it's not the exact same mouse but it has the exact same buttons) ... 70D-7b.gif

in the image it indicates that the side buttons are the 4th and 5th buttons, are they talking about the same thing? because these are the additional 2 buttons i need, the 2 side buttons

overall i need the following buttons:
LMB, RMB, MMB (the Wheel button), Wheel, Side Button 1, Side Button 2 - (total: 5 buttons + wheel function)
i don't need:
the red Double-Click button or the little button near the wheel

what's your opinion? will it work the way i want with the 5 buttons i want or will it detect different 5 buttons?

thnx a lot for your time and thnx a lot for your work

Basically, which ever buttons send the message for XBUTTON1 (4th) and XBUTTON2 (5th).

Without having access to the mouse to test, I can not guarantee which buttons send these two messages, but if they are actually labeled "4th and 5th" then I would expect those buttons to work.
If the image labels the buttons as 4th and 5th I would expect them to be the ones that work.

Normally 4th and 5th would be the "side" buttons, the same that generically (without XMBC) are BACK and NEXT in IE/Firefox.

But of course, I can not be 100% sure without access to the mouse :(

ok, i just bought the mouse and im happy with it and with xmbc
the side buttons are indeed the 4th and 5th button and seem to work ok with xmbc
moreover the 'double click' button is not detected as a separate button (i think), so it works as well
(i thought it 'd be the 6th button and wouldn't work at all but it just works as a double click button now)

so in this '7 button' mouse, the only button that doesn't work is a special function button, i believe it's a fav shortcuts button that i don't need and i don't mind not working
haven't tested zbrush key combinations yet, if i do, will edit this post or reply on the original thread

again thnx so much, i wish the big heads had half of your will to make things work a little better, best of luck to you

Thats good news.

If you find the 7th button sending anything, let me know :)
