Can I add "press alt+ button to..."?

Post by Julitre » Mon Jan 08, 2018 2:22 am

Hey, so.. I started to use x-mouse just to use my lateral mouse button as a double click button, and i'd like to know if there's a way to add a variable, like pressing alt+mouse 5 to next track or something like this. Thanks

Yes - sort of...

You can use Layers.

Setup layer 2 (for example) to send "Media - next track" on button 4 and then enable layer modifier keys (settings/layer modifier keys) and set ALT to trigger LAYER 2. This will cause XMBC to switch to layer 2 when ALT is held down. Now if you hold ALT and press button 4, XMBC will send "Media - Next Track".

But there can be a problem with this, in that the ALT key is still actually held down so depending on what you are doing, the app may behave differently if another key is held down. If there is a problem with this, then instead you could use global hotkeys to "permanently" switch to layer 2, and then setup a layer revert timer on layer 2 to switch back to layer 1 after a second (or less)...

I hope that makes some sense!
Thanks,
Phil
