Disable log file / Allow Windows variables as log file location

Post by kukris » Fri Jan 05, 2018 9:50 pm

Hello,

first thanks for X-Mouse Button Control. It is a very convenient and generic utility to map mouse buttons.
Now I have 2 requests regarding the log file.

1.) Could you please add an option to completely disable the log file?

2.) Can you please allow Windows system variables as log file locations such as %TEMP% or %APPDATA%? Or if that is not possible check if the location is valid and bring an error message?

I put %TEMP% as log folder (no error) and the program did not start anymore the next time or did not react. I had to delete the value for LogFolder in the registry to make it work again.

Code: Select all

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Highresolution Enterprises\XMouseButtonControl]
"LogFolder"="%TEMP%"

Windows 7 SP1 x64
X-Mouse Button Control v2.17 portable

1. You can already do this with a command line argument....
use: XMouseButtonControl.exe /NoLog

2. Yes I can probably do that.... I'm a little surprised it does not already allow it - I will have a look and change it if need be.

Thanks for the info. I didn't find this option in the manual. Are there more command line parameters?

Yes - quite a few and they probably aren't in the manual! Perhaps they should be, although most users will never use them I suspect...

If you do a /? argument, it will list them all on screen for you,
